What is Semaglutide

• Semaglutide is a medication in the class of GLP-1 receptor agonists (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 analogues). 
  
• It was first approved for type 2 diabetes under brand names like Ozempic, and later also approved for weight management / obesity under the brand Wegovy. It comes in injectable forms (weekly shots) and also an oral tablet form called Rybelsus.
